Spotted: Charlene Breaking Down + Being Real {Stepping Into Your Power}

by

Hey Lovely Ladies!Blog May 1 Spotted

After a few months of being M.I.A., I’m BACK!!!  I MISSED YOU!!!!

So, who took me hostage?

The Man. …a.k.a. a day {spa} job.  and… “Gossip Girl” on Netflix. 😉

(hence, the blog title and new Blair Waldorf headband pictured on the right)

In the short time I’ve been at the day spa, The Universe has kicked it up a notch + kicked me in the butt to step up my game.

I’m still gob-smacked at what happened. A lesson I share with you in Stepping Into Your Power…and putting on your fabulous Big Girl Britches Outfits!

New Sandbox, New Lessons

Between January and now, I’ve gone through 2 months of intense 5-day a week training, and working on the spa floor since March.

With that, I’ve been introduced to a new Life Playground, playing with some cool kids… and some not-so-cool ones.

As intense (and sleep-deprived) as training was, I thought I would breakdown during those 8 weeks. It never came. Instead, my breakdown came this week…stemming from {gulp} – not just 1, but 2 – unhappy clients. :(

Granted, waxing is a relatively fresh territory for me, but I felt I got decent training + practice. Even so…

Over 2 days, I spent 1 car-drive + 1 lunch break crying out built-up emotions; I questioned my skills, wondering if co-workers lied to me during training to make me feel good.

birdNo matter your journey, people will unexpectedly challenge you + self-doubts will try to overpower you.

But how will you respond?

Will you fall into the trap of being The Victim? Or will you DO something about it so that the situation doesn’t happen again?

Resolve…

Let’s Put On Our Fabulous Big Girl Britches Outfits (+ Blair Waldorf Headbands), Shall We?

I’m confident my skills are up to par. The spa would not have put me on the floor if they weren’t.

After crying + venting to friends, I realized the fault lies in my not stepping into my power.

Had I stepped up, I would’ve had control of my room, and the clients would have been more at ease.

The funny thing is, is stepping into my personal power is something I’ve been working on for yearsStepping into authenticity {which IS a powerful step} was not enough.  It seems The Universe has graduated me from that {yay!!!}.  Now it’s about not being pushed around.

It can be scary thinking of stepping into YOUR Big Girl Power + confidently putting yourself out there. That little girl in you is ready to flee from a situation where she might get hurt.

Instead, why don’t we try this together?

  • Take a deep breath (or several)
  • Connect to the scared girl inside and have a little chat
  • Find out what’s going on with her, LISTEN, and comfort her. Thank her for concerns + warnings; But you got this!!!

Stepping into your power is going to propel your life forward + bring more happiness to yourself and others!

So, whatcha say, Loves?

What have been your moments of power? What did you learn and how did you handle those situations?

If you’re going through a struggle now, how can we support you???

Tell me in the comments below!

Thanks so much, as always, for reading. I’m so happy to be back with you all! 😀

Charlene! Thanks so much for sharing your personal struggle with self-doubt. I am on a tight deadline for something I have been putting together for months and have been doubting myself every step of the way. I realized that the doubt just terrifies me and doesn’t allow me to learn, move on, grow or get any of the job done. I’m trying to better figure out what is real healthy questioning of my own abilities and what is just chatter in my head.

Thanks so much sharing what you’re going through, Christine! It’s great that you at least realize that there IS chatter going on in your head. The way I see things is the thoughts that you find that are kind, gentle, loving, those are TRUTH. Anything that is fearful or even hurtful, that’s “untruth.”

So, even if you do find there are abilities that can be improved on, your higher self is going communicate that to you in the most loving way possible. Just as in the experience I shared, had I given to any fear, I probably would be long gone from that place as we speak! ;D

Glad to see you’re back Charlene! I want to let you know I think your skills are GREAT and sometimes people are just having a bad day or are unhappy for something outside of your control, and you end up being the one in their path who (unfortunately) had to accept their criticism! I hope you keep your head up! From your post, it seems like you’re wayyyy ahead of me on that. Thanks for some suggestions, I know I can use them in my work too! Hope to see you soon :)

Thank you, Mary Kate! And you’re welcome! Yeah, we can all use these quick and easy tools, can’t we? I’m sure even JLo has her days of self-doubt! (I use JLo as an example simply because I’m watching Tuesday night’s Idol right now ~ lol) xo

Thanks, Sabrina! :) Yes, absolutely! I’m so glad you can vouch for the breath-taking in bringing yourself back into your space of power.

You know, I’m kind of reminded of how the character, Jack on “Lost” would say that when he got nervous or freaked out doing an operation, he’d only allow himself 5 (or 10?) seconds to be freaked out; after counting to 5 (or 10), then he had to do his job.

Charlene, this is a struggle for a lot of women (including me) and it seems that it’s one of those lessons that continues to pop up from time to time as a reminder. As kind and gentle nurturers, we tend to put our guard down in order to help others… and in those moments vampires and people not operating from their Highest Selves can more easily strike. I love you for your strength and also for your vulnerability. I love you for your laughter and for your sweet tears of release. You are an amazing esthetician and I speak from experience when I say, “I love visiting you at Ethereal Oasis and BW.” Also, I love your headbands! 😉
