It’s NOT All About You (or me), Love…

by

Welcome to Part 3 of my short series: ‘Life’s Beauty Lessons.’ A couple of months ago, I returned Home to Virginia to — not only visit my parents — but also my high school. These visits Home always touch my heart, where I rekindle the love + wonder of my childhood. This time, it also brought up huge ahas for my ego and spirit…”

In the last two weeks, we learned the one tool to use to boost Popularity + Love in your life, and the one powerful secret to getting over the dreaded Nerves! Here’s where it all comes together…

As I stood up at the podium to announce the winners, I started with a bit of stalling-talk.

“Hi! Thank you so much for having us. We’re so sorry to keep everyone waiting for so long… It really was such a difficult decision. Everyone did a FANTASTIC job!…”

Oh, and I kept going.

I felt like I was having an outer body experience as the energy within me heightened, and I was buzzing while connecting with the audience.

Then it hit me.

CONNECTION.

This wasn’t about me. Yes, everyone was looking at me, but not to critique — they just wanted to know who the freakin’ winners are! I could feel THEIR nervous anticipation as they quieted down waiting to hear their class colors announced as the 2013 Song Contest Winners.

But I continued to connect to them. …until the time was right to make the official announcement. 😉

I knew exactly how they were feeling. I had been through it. We had that bond of our high school and Song Contest, and that’s what made my feared “public speaking” moment easy — or at least tolerable!

The final secret ingredient in finding any form of Love + getting past Nerves:

It’s not about you; It’s about the other person.

How are you connecting, serving, or contributing to this person? What do they need?

Once you take the focus off of yourself and put it on the other person, who feels the nerves now? And don’t you feel the LOVE once you’re giving them what they need?

Not About Me

sure, this quote can be taken another way ~ LOL,
but hang with me… :)

As always, thank you so much for reading! and I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Tell me one thing you’ve been nervous about or where you’ve wanted a bit more love (we all do!), and how you’ll put that energy and focus onto that other person(s).

Or if you’ve experienced this already, I want to hear about it below!

Lots of Love + Sunshine!
