In the past week or so, I’ve noticed something…and perhaps you’re experiencing it, too.

Scrolling through Facebook, having conversations with friends + my husband, and in what I’m experiencing in my own life, I’m noticing a lot of discomfort happening with many of us ~ emotionally and/or physically.

Yes, even when we are physically hurting, our body, our higher self, or The Universe is trying to wake us up to pay attention!

Well, what IS it that needs our attention?

I don’t know if you’re feeling it, but it’s hit me like a ton of bricks.

Mercury in Retrograde.

What IS Mercury in Retrograde? you ask… Well, first, note that I’m not an expert astrologer, so you’re getting the down and dirty, simplified explanation. Mercury is the planet that rules communication and travel. When the planet goes in retrograde, it appears to be moving backwards.

This retro-action energy creates miscommunication, delayed travels, electronic breakdowns, and therefore angrier people upset that things aren’t going their way.

It can also create the lackadaisical feelings, where you really don’t want to be doing anything at all.

Pshhhaw! And you thought you were longing for those Lazy Summer Days of the Past! Well, you’re not entirely wrong. The two absolutely can go hand in hand!

This slow down began on June 26th.

Perfect timing as my husband and I traveled to Connecticut (ahem. SLIGHT sarcasm when I say “perfect timing”). Work for him. Relaxation for me…with maybe a TAD bit of work here and there (I can’t help myself!).

Are You There, [Your Name]? It’s Me, Ego: Meditating in Peace


Last week, I talked about how Daily Meditation is Fantastic for Unwinding and De-Stressing, AND helps calm stressed-skin issues.

In today’s world, there’s hardly anywhere we can turn without getting stressed:

  • work (“FYI we need this – like – yesterday! FYI”)
  • family (clean the house, cook, do laundry, take care of the family!)
  • email, social media, and television

Even what we consider “breaks” from the world can be stressful — going on vacation, a concert, or the amusement park…

Believe it or not, the “good stress” from these activities raises our stress levels. Not to say that you shouldn’t do the fun stuff! 😉 But finding the balance, or harmony (as I like to call it) is SO important to our health and to our skin. This is where Meditation comes in handy…

But I’m sure some of you reading this are thinking:

Making travel arrangements, getting everything done before heading out of town… Or maybe you’re a mom and doing everything in your power to keep your kids entertained, the home in order, and if you’re working, too…PHEW!!! That’s a lot you’ve got to juggle!
